Power Moves: Yoga
KC is an adventure seeking, animal loving, veggie eating, free spirited gal who currently lives in Maine. She believes in hugs, hope, peace, equality, goodness, smiles laughter, and the power of a good home cooked meal. KC works as a social worker and will also be graduating this spring with her Master’s in Social Work. She hopes to one day combine her love for yoga with social work, by teaching yoga in schools with at-risk youth, and also possibly in jails/prisons. In her spare time, KC loves going on long walks and hikes with her boyfriend and her dogs, and is eager to get her paddleboard on the nearby lakes once the snow and ice melt. KC believes fullheartedly that the energy you put out into the world is what comes back to you, and tries to send out peaceful and loving vibes in some way, shape, or form daily. @k2theci
What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
After I’ve pressed snooze at least once, I roll out of bed and make myself a mug of hot lemon water. While I sip on this, I peruse my email, social media, news, etc for a few minutes before getting on my yoga mat…And so my day begins.
How would you describe your personal style?
My style changes on a daily basis, depending on my mood. I’d say that overall my style lately has more of a bohemian feel to it, free, flowing, and colorful-which is how I feel inside. However that being said, you’re very likely to catch me in all black on some days… because that never goes out of style. J
Where is your favorite place to go to connect with nature and why?
I love hiking up mountains or sitting out in the middle of a lake when I really want to connect with nature. Somewhere where I can find solitude and also admire in all of the beauty around me. It makes me feel like I am a part of something so much larger than myself; it’s both humbling and inspiring.
What activity stirs your creativity most?
Movement and music, a simple answer, but there is so much depth to both. I grew up dancing and playing the piano; because of this, these two elements always are very comforting to me and “bring me home” whether I am the one doing the activities or simply observing it. It all just feels so right.ing, pad of movement, dancing, ll of the beauty around me. It makes me feel like I am a part of something so much large
What makes you feel the most connected with people?
Deep conversations. I totally fall into that introverted category where small talk doesn’t interest me at all. I want to know the ins and outs, what makes people move and feel passionate about, not just how the weather is.
How do you stay healthy?
I eat a very strict plant-based diet, for ethical reasons. I’m a big fan of kale, fruit, and tofu. My boyfriend and I rarely go out to eat, and cook all of our meals ourselves. And while I try to eat as healthy as I can, I do eat a few French fries on occasion, because hey, they’re awesome!
What does success mean to you?
Success means having given my very best, to have no regrets, and to be happy.
What is the last thing you do before you go to bed?
Tell my dogs I love them.
What is your must-have Stelari item?
I think any of the free-flow yoga tank tops are amazing. The material is so silky soft and feels like a dream. I aso love the nature inspired designs and colors that also serve as visual inspiration to stay connected in your practice and in life.
