Life doesn’t have a steady rhythm - that would be boring. Instead, Life is full of tempos and beats that make our days a little more interesting. Some days may flow like a beautiful ballad while others may feel more like a fast-paced dance song. If your day was a playlist what music would you play?
To inspire our soundtrack, we turn to our Rhythm Makers to see what they are listening to. Kelly Snailum is a Pilates and Barre studio owner whose dynamic lifestyle and outlook on fitness and health is both refreshing and relatable.
To find songs for the barre and TRX classes she teaches, she will Shazam a tune she hears when she’s out and about, then explore more on Spotify. The playlist she offers below is a compilation she calls BURN AT THE BARRE and it’s designed for a workout that burns the muscles, makes you sweat and tone your body.
Pay special attention to track 4 Swing by Savage Island. “This is about when we make our way to the barre for some forward facing thigh burning,” says Snailum, “I use the chorus of this song to have a little fun with our hips and stay in the work. ‘Savage where my chorus at!’”
While we love gracefully flowing through a vinyasa yoga class, we also crave a heart-pounding, sweat-inducing workout that challenges our strength and determination. For this, we go to barre class to tuck, plank and plié. Our muscles will be shaking like crazy but the beats of this mix will get us through.
