5 Ways to Benefit During Taurus Season 

When the Sun moves through the sign of Taurus (April 19 – May 20), there is a window of warmth and vitality around cultivating our senses: touch, taste, smell, hearing and sight. It’s a time to slow down and feel our way through the world and all of the textures in our lives. Through this practice we come into better touch with our sense of value and self-worth which is the heart of what Taurus Season wants us to understand and what it’s ruler, Venus, is so attuned to.

Try these 5 gestures during the Taurus sign and notice how you feel.


1) Yoga Pose

Do Ushtrasana (Camel Pose). The area of the body that Taurus rules is the throat, bringing our 5th chakra into focus at this time. To me, this speaks to our self confidence - the ability to use our voices and understand that our ideas and words have value. Camel pose is a great one to activate the 5th chakra with the throat and neck not only getting a good stretch but also toning their muscles and gaining more strength.


2) Focus on the Senses


As mentioned above, this is the season of the senses. Connecting with nature and the natural rhythms of the earth is a great way to connect to your senses. Whether it be a hike, camping or a simple jaunt to the country for a day trip, tuning into the smells, sights, sounds and rhythms of the natural world really opens us up to our awareness; the need to slow down and pay attention to what our senses are telling us.



3) Eat Vita

With Taurus ruling over one of our society's biggest problem areas, this is the perfect time to layer our diets with thyroid regulating nutrition. Lots of dark leafy greens are the best answer with the addition of a few other complementing fruits and protein-packed foods.

Try a salad with a lemon and honey vinaigrette to sooth the throat by reducing any inflammation and thinning congestion. The addition of cantaloupe has a perfect combination of vitamins for thyroid health with vitamins A-D, calcium, magnesium and selenium. The vitamins and antioxidants in kale, spinach and other dark leafy greens are superfoods made for thyroid health. A handful of almonds will add iron, selenium and zinc with essential B vitamins and a high protein content.


4) Drink Vita

Green drinks that mirror a lot of the above are a great thyroid benefit this season – I love mine with kale, apple, lemon and ginger, but there are many combinations that will fit the bill.


5) Repeat the Mantra "I Am Valuable"

How often to you check in with yourself and your internal dialogue to see how well you value yourself and your voice, and let yourself know you are full of worth? This can often be a tough conversation but Taurus Season provides much magic for this. It’s a time when the cosmos slow us down and help us feel with our senses that we are very much so full of values that reflect how we value ourselves.
